UN Climate Change Conference

Brand Concept

The UN Climate Change Conference, also known as the Conference of the Parties (COP), is an annual gathering where global leaders and experts come together to address climate change. It is a key event that shapes environmental policy, sets targets, and drives global action to protect our planet. The 26th COP in 2021 was the largest event the UK has ever hosted, drawing unprecedented public interest in climate action. My design concept for this event not only caters to the formal and ministerial gatherings but also seeks to engage the public eye, energising the design to reflect the urgency and momentum of the global conversation on climate change.

This brand proposal reimagines the visual identity of a diplomatic, international conference. The hashtag for this year #TogetherForOurPlanet invites a wider audience to engage with the event, which influenced the design to be more fun. While these conferences typically rely on formal, authoritative visuals, this identity offers flexibility – seamlessly shifting from refined and formal to dynamic and expressive, especially for the Youth Summit segment of COP. This is where young leaders and activists influence climate policy alongside global decision-makers. The design captures the energy and optimism of the next generation, creating a vibrant and impactful presence across social media, merchandise, and event materials, ensuring the Youth Summit resonates with its audience.

Development of drawing the shapes by hand

The shapes were first drawn by hand, then digitally traced to retain their organic feel and achieve a cut-and-paste effect. Once digitised, they were organised into three themes, each representing a different environmental element
